ABOUT US

THE HEMANGIOMA INVESTIGATOR GROUP (HIG)

The Hemangioma Investigator Group (HIG) is a multi-institutional research consortium established in 2001, and consists of a network of investigators in the U.S. and Canada. A fundamental and long-term goal of HIG is to provide quality data on the safety and effectiveness of the novel application of therapeutics in infantile hemangiomas (IH). The HIG has completed several longitudinal multi-site studies addressing the incidence, demographics, complication rate, and outcomes of IH. Since its inception, HIG has expanded to more than a dozen sites and has built a clinical research infrastructure, including data collection and management, formalized leadership and an administrative structure. HIG has collaboratively published over 40 studies, developed an educational website, and members have received a number of grants related to IH research. The HIG holds two meetings per year prior to the Academy of Dermatology Meeting and the Society for Pediatric Dermatology Meeting.
